Introduction

Gingival recession is now part of everyday dental practice with the ever-increasing, patient-driven aesthetic dentistry as it frequently associated with esthetic complaints and root sensitivity.

Various techniques have been suggested for treatment of gingival recession comprising different typesof flaps however minimal invasive grafting andtunneling procedures in conjunction withsubepithelial connective tissue graft or allograft considered new approach aims to minimize surgical complications and improve the outcome.

This course is designed for practitioners and specialists with experience in treating periodontal disease, but want to advance their soft-tissue regeneration skills both theoretical and practical with better understanding of step by step decision making and tunneling techniques for root coverage through lectures, videos, hands on and live demonstrations.

Intended Learning Objectives

Theoretical:

  • Developing knowledge of etiologic factors, risk factorsof gingival recession, the principles of examination, diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Various traditional and minimally invasive flap designs for treatment of localized and generalized gingival recession; including treatment goals, indications and limitations of each technique and factors affecting the outcomes.

Practical:

  • Perform Tunneling surgical techniques and techniques for minimally invasive graft harvest.
  • Exercise safe suturing techniques to achieve best outcome for the presented soft tissue management procedures.
  • Master the clinical skills, techniquesand applications of instruments and materials used in treatment of gingival recession.
